Kacy Seitz with her family, including her daughter Hudsyn
Why we’re different · Our story

I built this practice out of necessity

— for my own family first, because no one could answer my own questions.

A diagnosis rearranges everything — whether it comes at birth, at three, or at fifteen. In 2010 my daughter Hudsyn was born with complex medical needs, and we started asking the questions most families in this position eventually ask:

If something happens to me, who takes care of my child — and how is it paid for?

Are we using everything available to us, or are there benefits and protections we are missing?

What does my life look like? Will I retire? What happens to the plans I had?

We met with a variety of financial advisors. None of the ones we met had done this kind of planning before. They could open an account or place an insurance policy, but no one could tell us how a trust, a benefits application, and a retirement plan were meant to fit together — or who was responsible for making sure they did. We wanted one person looking at all of it, working with everyone already involved in Hudsyn’s life.

After three years of looking for that person, I understood that I was going to have to become her. In 2013 I began building the practice I had been trying to hire.

The people on my team are parents, caregivers, and advocates in this community. That is not a hiring preference — it is why families do not have to explain themselves twice when they call us.

I also train and mentor other financial professionals in this specialty, because there are not enough of us. Fewer than 1,000 advisors nationwide hold the ChSNC® designation (source: The American College Center for Special Needs). Our practice serves only families who have a long-term dependent. It is not a piece of our practice, or another service line we offer...it’s our whole story. We have worked with families in almost every state.

Who you’ll work with

The Whole Story Planning team

My team lives in this community as parents, caregivers, and advocates. They know the financial complexity and they know the emotional weight, because they carry it, too. And we are not only serving the families in front of us — we work to improve the education, resources, and planning tools available to families in this position.

Ashley P Stallons, Director of Operations and Client Service

Ashley P Stallons

Director of Operations and Client Service

Ashley is Kacy’s younger sister and Hudsyn’s aunt. A graduate of Washburn University, she spent years at the State of Kansas processing disability claims — which means she has seen the benefits system from the inside, and she knows what a family is going through while they wait on a determination. She guides our clients through insurance underwriting applications (when those are needed), prepares most investment paperwork, keeps policy information current, and keeps our office running in general. Outside of work, Ashley camps, watches movies, and advocates for families raising children with disabilities. She and her husband, Troy, live in Gardner, KS with their two Italian Greyhounds: Picco and Kevin.

Our virtual learning sessions cover the questions families ask most — what an ABLE account can and cannot do, when guardianship decisions come up, and how a Special Needs Trust gets funded. These are free and open to anyone who would like to attend.
